Since 1999, CanAssist has undertaken over 140 projects for the community. CanAssist’s goal is to build devices and develop technology so the quality of life for people with disabilities can be improved. The projects we have undertaken result from requests/suggestions from the community and fall under the following categories: Communication, Mobility, Therapeutic Aid, Ergonomics, Environmental Controls and Other Projects.

CanAssist also has a long-term research program that complements its “project” based activities. Our team is on the cutting edge of assistive technology research that is mainly focused on: Movement & Mobility, Communication & Control, Human-Computer Interactions, Online Learning & Community Building.

Not only that, CanAssist also believes in providing special assistive services for the community. For example, our ‘Just for Kicks’ program gives an opportunity for children with special needs to learn soccer skills while playing in a fun team environment.
